Chanel Store @ Promenade Mall, New Delhi: Luxury Retail Fit-Out

RetailIndiaNew DelhiProject managementCompleted

In 2018, Chanel selected Ascentis to deliver its flagship boutique at Promenade Mall, New Delhi. The project followed a Design and Build model, covering detailed design development, prototyping, and full fit-out. Before this store, Chanel imported all custom furniture from Dubai. For this project, they challenged Ascentis to fabricate a complicated furniture piece with intricate joinery as a test of local capability.

The successful prototype demonstrated Ascentis’ craftsmanship and attention to detail, leading Chanel to approve the full store design. The second phase involved a 6-month fit-out, where every element from bespoke furniture to finishes was executed to the exacting global standards of the brand.

Project Objectives

  • Establish Chanel’s luxury presence in India’s capital
  • Deliver a boutique that aligned with Chanel’s global design standards
  • Develop and execute local craftsmanship solutions to replace imported furniture
  • Complete fit-out within a strict 10-month programme

Challenges

Chanel initially required proof of capability through a furniture prototype featuring intricate joinery. Success at this stage was critical to advancing the project.

Design and finishes had to align with Chanel’s international stores, demanding precise detailing and quality control.

The combined 10-month schedule required efficient design coordination and sequencing of procurement and fit-out activities.

Achievements

The furniture mock-up met Chanel’s standards, establishing trust in local fabrication and reducing reliance on overseas imports.

The final boutique was delivered with flawless detailing, mirroring Chanel’s luxury image and guest experience.

Completed within the planned 10-month timeline and within budget of USD 315,000.

The Chanel Promenade Mall boutique marked a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion in India. By proving that local teams could deliver to Chanel’s global standards, the project reduced costs, shortened lead times, and created a new benchmark for luxury retail delivery in the region.
